Scarab Sweepers are a global leader in the design and manufacture of pioneering single-engine road sweepers, accelerating society's transition to a cleaner, healthier environment. Established in 1979 in Marden, Kent, the company has stayed true to their ethos, creating an environment where tradition blends seamlessly with technology, preserving the DNA that has made their quality, refinement and innovation the first choice with customers world-wide.
With wide-ranging experience of working alongside high-profile commercial cleaning manufacturers, Scarab approached Dsquared to bring their marketing communications in-line with their global-leading environmental products. This included a brand evolution (to incorporate their new ‘leave nothing behind’ strapline), web design and development, video showreel creation for product launches and social media consultancy. Our creative team were able to work closely with Scarab’s new marketing manager to provide strategic marketing solutions to retain their strong brand recognition whilst showcasing them as a forward-thinking pioneer. Our knowledge of this competitive marketplace enabled the Dsquared team to fully grasp Scarab’s USPs and understand their customer base, creating a visual look and feel that they would be proud to carry forward.
It is always important for our creative team to really get to know a client, especially when we are tasked with a brief that is so far-reaching. As such, we have visited Scarab HQ, held workshops at Dsquared and organised weekly virtual meetings whilst the main body of work was underway. This not only helped with the large-scale web project and meeting deadlines throughout but also meant that we could provide an ongoing marketing support function.
What began as a website content project with a few design elements, quickly developed into a full rebuild. The Dsquared digital team were tasked with refreshing Scarab’s website to create a more premium look whilst focusing on the user experience. We quickly faced problems with the restrictive CMS so recommended a complete rebuild in Craft CMS which would give Scarab the wow factor they wanted whilst providing design flexibility to future proof their site, saving long-term development costs. Our development team set to work building the custom page layouts to maximise the design and user experience.
We then worked closely with the marketing team on the content population to showcase their new suite of marketing literature, vibrant brand video and eye-catching photography. The user-friendly interface gives Scarab team full control over both the content management and all page layouts moving forward. Safe to say, the final result created the impact that the collective Dsquared and Scarab teams could be proud of…
It was clear from the get-go with this project that Scarab were keen the push the boundaries, just like they have done with their sweepers. We were taken with their new strapline which we felt perfectly summed up their aspirations – taking a leap forward but always bringing their people and traditions with them. The Dsquared design team subtly and effectively incorporated this message throughout the new suite of literature from the corporate brochure to the technical specification leaflets. It was important that we kept the premium look running through all of Scarab’s communications and in the areas where a refresh was needed such as their photography, we worked with the Scarab team to source and brief a photographer to ensure the imagery perfectly supplemented the design.
