Opal

Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) is a UK-wide citizen science initiative founded in 2007 that allows people to get hands-on with nature while contributing to important scientific research. The OPAL network is led by Imperial College London and includes leading museums, universities and environmental organisations across the UK.

OPAL develops activities and resources, including national surveys, which allows citizens to get closer to their local environment whilst collecting important scientific data. The findings are issued in an end of year report and Dsquared were asked to design a report that would promote, celebrate and share OPAL successes with stakeholders in an engaging and informative manner.

We initially provided 3 concepts for OPAL to choose from and then further developed the chosen concept to produce a well illustrated, well thought out, engaging report.

The 32 page report was designed and delivered in early October and looks fantastic, the report is printed using vegetable inks on recycled paper and incorporates lots of imagery, illustration, infographcs and statistics.
